5. P R O M 2014 "UnderThe Sea" at The Haus
Your first attempt may have been the best night of your life or an utter disaster; regardless, prom is coming back around to Undergrounds Coffeehaus. The event includes an under the sea theme (wear your mermaid or pirate best), fare from Veggie Xpress food truck, dancing, decoration, coffee (obviously), and more. It starts Saturday at 8 p.m.
4. Sunday Music Brunch
Jazz brunch may just happen once a month, but there are still options for brunch, booze, and smooth tunes on a Sunday morning. If you're looking to kick back with some Key West-style tunes while soaking up the fresh air, the Chimney House is here to make it happen. Every Sunday it offers a brunch with $5 mimosas and sangrias.
3. Frankie Dogs Gourmet 2 Year Anniversary Party
To celebrate two-years of mobile hot dog vending, Frankie Dogs is offering some deals at Laser Wolf on Saturday night. It's serving two-for-one dogs from 9 to 11 p.m. In addition to premiering FD T.V., the event will include live music, games, and obviously, plenty of beer. They'll be serving until 2 a.m.
2. Original Fat Cats sixth Annual Pimp N Hoe Party
Memorial Day tends to be celebrated by grilling and getting wasted on the beach in your hottest bathing attire. Why not bring the scantily clad theme to the bar this year? Original Fat Cats is hosting its annual pimps and hoes party on Sunday night. The festivities begin at 10 p.m. There is no cost to attend. Ladies who dress the part get free drinks from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. The Funky Biscuits will be performing live starting at 11:30 p.m.
1. Riverwalk Burger Battle V
There's nothing like a good beef to heat things up a bit - not that we need any help in the rising temperature department right now. No matter the situation, everyone likes a bit of friendly competition; it'll keep you on your toes, you never know what's going to happen, and it can be entertaining as hell. What more could one possibly ask for? (Aside from a raunchy evening with Jon Hamm, of course.) On Friday, get ready for the ultimate meat fest; the Fifth Annual Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale Burger Battle is coming back around and it's brining plenty of beer and mano-a-mano action. Taking place from 7 to 10 p.m. at Huizenga Plaza, the battle is pitting 16 of Fort Lauderdale's best chefs and restaurants against each other as they compete for the title of "Best Burger." With homemade sauces and accoutrements, original recipes, and fine ingredients, the competitors will be attempting to show off their creations to over 1,200 guests and a panel of judges. Awards for Fan Favorite, Best Burger Joint, Best Bar & Grill, ad Best Knife & Fork Burger will be handed out, as well. For $40 per person, attendees get to stuff their faces with burgers and fries, drink, and vote for their favs. VIP tickets cost $125, which includes special snacks and craft brews from Publix Aprons Cooking School, Funky Buddha Brewery, and Pop Lab. Sosos, a local acoustic rock jam band, will be performing throughout the event.
