5. National Learn to Homebrew Day at BX Beer Depot

Most food "holidays" can and should pass by unnoticed, but those pertaining to (good) beer deserve a little nod. Saturday is Learn to Homebrew Day, a day established by the American Homebrewers Association in 1999 to help foster the homebrew community. Interested in joining the movement? BX Beer Depot in Palm Springs will host a National Learn to Homebrew Day event from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Reserve a spot online or call 561-965-9494 for more details.

4. Feast of Little Italy

Stuff your face with spicy meatballs and sausage this weekend at the Feast of Little Italy. (You can work all the food off by playing bocce and dancing to live music throughout the event). In addition to cooking and wine demonstrations every day, there'll be special highlights like the Costellos pizza-eating contest at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and the Sorrento Cheese Building for Charity at 1 p.m. Sunday. The festival is 3 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 each and free for kids ages 12 years and younger. Parking is free, too. The festivities are in Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter.

3. Final weekend for Dine Out Lauderdale

This is the last weekend for Fort Lauderdale's dining promo, Dine Out Lauderdale, with more than 40 restaurants offering prix fixe menus for $35. Find a full list of participating restaurants at "Dine Out Lauderdale 2012 Restaurants."

2. Suntrust Sunday Jazz Brunch

Need a little extra incentive to venture outside of the house on Sunday morning? The Water Taxi is offering free rides this Sunday to and from the SunTrust Sunday Jazz Brunch. The brunch is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Riverwalk Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The free Water Taxi rides are available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with round-trip shuttle service every 20 minutes. Call 954-828-5363.

1. Seminole Hard Rock Wine and Food Festival

Steve Martorano will host two high-spirited cooking demos (at noon and 3:30 p.m.) at Sunday's Seminole Hard Rock Wine and Food Festival at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood. Speaking of spirits, there are more than 200 wines and other adult beverages available for attendees, plus bites from 30 local restaurants. The festival -- which is 1 to 5 p.m. -- benefits Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation. The cost is $65 in advance or $75 at the door. VIP ticket holders pay $100 in advance and can enter at noon.
