Fresh off of Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, New York's Jaime Salas and brand ambassador for Milagro Tequila is making a stop in South Florida for only two days to impart his knowledge of tequila mixology.
Starting tonight at Sardelli's in Hollywood from 7 to 9:30, Salas will be giving an intimate presentation on how to make the freshest margarita and other signature cocktails.
Splitting his time between San Francisco and the state of Jalisco in Mexico, the birthplace of tequila, Salas knows a thing or two about the tequila industry. His knowledge ranges from the cultivation of the coveted agave plant from which tequila is distilled to the end product. He's tried countless varieties of tequila and boasts of a bottle collection of more than 300 hard-to-find brands.
If you don't already know, tequila is distilled from the agave plant, which is abundant in the tequila-making region of Jalisco. Milagro is a brand of Scotland distillery William Grant and Sons, whose brands also include Sailor Jerry, Stolichnaya vodka, and Tullamore DEW.
There are still some spots left, and a RSVP is required. To attend, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you miss that one, don't worry, Salas will also be at the El Vato Taco and Tequila Bar tomorrow night at the same time. An RSVP to the same address is also required.
But if you just happen to miss the free course, no worries; here is a cocktail recipe you can take with you:
World's Freshest Margarita
2 parts Milagro Tequila
3/4 part Milagro agave nectar
1 part fresh lime juice
Shake well. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime. Salt optional.
