Funky Buddha's Sweet Potato Casserole: Thanksgiving in a Glass Available Tonight

Though many would have you think that there are as many beverage options for Thanksgiving as sides, the best possible beer to pair with turkey would have to be Funky Buddha's Sweet Potato Casserole.

The Oakland Park brewery starts with a light brown ale base, then adds the makings of the best loved holiday side dish ever. The beer is poured into a wine vat and sweet potatoes, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spices, and marshmallows are added into the mix. The flavors are left to marry for a few days until the brew tastes like the dish it's named after.

The result is a homey brew with body and just the right amount of sweetness and spice. It's a honeyed orange in color and packs a bit of a punch at 7.9% ABV. It is, in a nutshell, Thanksgiving in a glass.

We're not the only ones smitten with this limited release ale. Beer Advocate gives it an outstanding 91 points.

Growlers of this special holiday elixir are released tonight, November 26 at 7 p.m. at the Funky Buddha Brewery. The growlers are $4 for the container (one time fee) and $10 to fill with Sweet Potato Casserole. The special release growlers are only available in 32 ounce sizes and only one keg is available for growler fills tonight.

If you want this awesome beverage for your turkey day festivities, get there early. Bartender/brewery tour guide Adrian Morales tells Clean Plate Charlie to arrive by no later than 6:30 p.m. or risk disappointment. "When we did the No Crust release, we ran out."

Sweet Potato Casserole is also available by the pint at Funky Buddha, starting tonight (while it lasts). We suggest getting a glass to enjoy while you're waiting on line for your growler.
