Happy Hour: Tarpon Bend

The Spot: Tarpon Bend in Fort Lauderdale

The Hours: Sunday-Thursday 4-7 p.m.; Friday 4-9 p.m.; Saturday 6-9 p.m.

The Deets: Don't be too surprised; they were voted Best Happy Hour a few years back. Two-for-one on all beers (bottles and drafts), house wines, and mixed drinks, even top shelf. Not included are shots, frozen drinks, and specialty drinks. You can also get 5-4-9 Bud Light or Bud Select buckets (five bottles for $9). Food isn't included, but they do have daily food specials that run during happy hour, like $2 sliders on Tuesdays.

The Scene: There are few places in downtown Fort Lauderdale that you can walk into without GTLing beforehand. Tarpon Bend is one of them. It's chill enough to head over after work for a beer, but it also gets rowdy on the weekends.

The Cost: The sliders are $2 on Tuesdays, the buckets are $9, and beer, wine and liquor varies upon selection.

The Verdict: Since I'm not prone to walking into places that check your shoes and shorts upon entering, Tarpon Bend is on my level when it comes to a relaxed drinking atmosphere. If I miss the food specials, I still manage to splurge on their smoked fish dip or clam chowder.
