Indiana Jones-Themed Restaurant Coming to Disney World

There's so much new stuff going in at the Mouse House (that's Walt Disney World Orlando Resort to the uninitiated) Mouse Heads can barely withstand the anticipation. Specifically, fans of the Indiana Jones franchise, who might have been worried for the fate of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! at Disney Hollywood Studios after rumors of its closing began making the rounds of the unofficial Disney fan blogs, will have a new watering hole to frequent at the end of 2015.

The most interesting thing about the Indy-related bar and restaurant, set to open as part of Downtown Disney's dramatic transformation into Disney Springs, is the name and theme.

Instead of going for a straightforward Indiana Jones' Raiders or Temple of Doom theme, and all the amazing treasure trove of opportunities that would entail, the bar is fashioned after a supporting character in the Indiana Jones storyline — Jock Lindsey.
According to Disney Parks' blog, Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is an aviation-themed establishment that tells the tale of Indy's pilot, Jock Lindsey. The 150-seat restaurant will feature an aviation-themed bar featuring memorabilia and correspondence between Indiana Jones and Lindsey on the walls. Jock's old steamboat, the Reggie, is dry docked outside, and there's also a dining deck. The Reggie, by the way, is named for Lindsey's pet snake, Reggie. According to Disney, that's an important detail to remember (if you recall, snakes are Indiana Jones' Achilles heel.).

The restaurant and lounge will feature cocktail like the “Hovito Mojito” with Barsol Quebranta pisco, fresh lime juice and simple syrup and small plates such as “Air Pirates Everything Pretzels” with house-made mustard and beer cheese fondue. Look for some Indy-themed menu items, like the Rolling Boulder meatballs, though there's no telling just how far Disney imagineers will go to please Raiders of the Lost Ark fans. No word yet if monkey brains are on the menu, but don't expect them. 


The restaurant is expected to open at the end of 2015, with the expansion and refurbishment of the Disney Springs complex completed by 2016. The project doubles the number of shops and restaurants currently at Downtown Disney, making it a jaw-dropping one million square feet of entertainment space when finished.
