A new restaurant in West Palm that isn't on Clematis Street?

Well, yes. It's Indus Herbal and Indian Cuisine, and it's way off the eatin' path not far past the decrepit Palm Beach Mall just east of I-95.

It's a pretty swell-looking place inside, much swankier than your usual Indian eatery and apparently the leftovers of the previous (and un-named) restaurant tenant. Big, posh banquettes, dark wood cabinetry, dangling Deco-esque light fixtures all add up to a pretty damn classy room.

The menu spans all regions of Indian and is beyond extensive, with more than two dozen starters and soups, plus DIY salads, a multitude of curries (from eggplant to goat), tandoori and biryani specials and a roster of freshly baked breads.

There's also a lunch and weekend buffet and delivery within five miles, so if you're stuck on Clematis and hungry for Indian cuisine, they can probably fix you right up.
