Happy Mardi Gras! Today is your excuse to down an entire box of glorified doughnuts without anyone being in any position to judge. It's also a day to dine on an insanely sugary cake loaded with food coloring and stuffed with an asphyxiation-sized plastic baby, all in the name of tradition and celebration.
This is a week to fill up with hurricanes, King Cake, crawfish boils, and paczki, and naturally, Mardi Gras events are on the schedule. After the jump, find a few food and drink events this week in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Tonight:
Crawfish Boil -- Shuck-N-Dive will host its
15th Annual Crawfish Boil in honor of Fat Tuesday. Grab an Abita beer to wash down chicken, ribs, and/or rice and beans. The event is noon to midnight with music starting around 3 p.m.
Mardi RA --
RA Sushi in Palm Beach Gardens is hosting a Mardi Gras party from 7 to 10 tonight with specials on food and drink inspired by NOLA. With live music.
Wednesday:
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Chamber of Commerce Taste of the Beach -- For $30, sample foods from more than 40 local restaurants, plus beer and winetastings. The event is 6 to 9 p.m in the parking lot at 4501 N. Ocean Drive.
Thursday:
Cigar City Brewery Night -- Puccini's Pizzeria in Delray Beach will host a takeover by Florida brewer
Cigar City with a tasting menu of six brews paired with items from the menu, plus free samples of pizza. Admission is $10 and entitles you to a flight of four, five-ounce pours. The tasting is 7 to 10 p.m.
TacoStock -- Instead of "parking lot" grilled-cheese sandwiches, this "Stock" provides sustenance by way of tacos and craft beers. Food trucks and local restaurants will be on-site with all manner of tacos, and craft beer will be provided by Brown Distributing Co. TacoStock is 5 to 9 p.m. at
Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Admission is $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Your entry fee entitles you to six tickets for tacos and/or beer.
