For most of us growing up, the phrase “social network” was never uttered. It probably sounded like a sociology term, and it was once upon a time. Socializing was something one did in person, face to face. You physically left your home and interacted with other people.
That world, for better or worse, is over forever. We do most of our socializing virtually these days. It's not all bad. After all, no matter how we complain, who doesn't love posting a pic or opinionated rant and return to 50 “likes” and a dozen comments?
New Times is bringing the old and new world social networks together with Sips + Selfies, a series of happy hours that will help you merge analog and digital socializing.
These happy hours, at various popular bars and restaurants, will feature free admission, complimentary cocktails, beer, and wine, and free appetizers. Mix and mingle with other New Times readers and, of course, don't forget to Instagram/Facebook/Tweet your happy hour enjoying selfies with the hashtag #NTSipsNSelfies.
The first one in Broward will be from 7 to 9 p.m. this Thursday, June 25 at Beauty & the Feast in the Atlantic Hotel & Spa in conjunction with their weekly Pigs Pints Paella night, taking place every Thursday. Along with your bevvies and ocean view, enjoy enjoy "lite bites" of pulled pork marinated for several hours as well as the chicken and choriza paella served tableside in an enormous pan.
In addition to some pretty awesome ocean views — and the occasional selfied happy hour — Beauty and the Feast turns out some pretty fine cuisine. Check out our full review here.
