What better way to kick off barbecue season than with an outdoor showdown of the quintessential American backyard all-star: the hamburger. The Riverwalk Trust Burger Battle will pit more than a dozen of the region's finest burger makers against one another for top marks from a panel of judges and crowd fave (that's where you come in).
A $40 entry fee gets you three drink tickets, tasty burger samples, access to the French fry bar, live music, and a chance to root on your favorite local celeb in the Krystal Slider Eating Contest. Don't worry; all of the gluttony (theirs and your own) is for a good cause. Funds raised will go toward supporting the Riverwalk Trust's goal of encouraging a vibrant riverside community.
The battle is 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 13 on the Riverside Hotel Lawn in downtown Fort Lauderdale. For tickets or VIP tables, call 954-468-1541 ext. 201. Order online at
