Beer: It's what's for dinner. Or, at least, it is this week. Beer dinners, tap takeovers, beer pairings; there's a lot of brews to be had in South Florida. Must be getting close to Oktoberfest. In the meantime, after the jump, find a roundup of food- and drink-related events this week in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Tuesday

Shipyard Beer Dinner

50 Ocean Delray has put together a four-course dinner in which all dishes will be paired with Shipyard Brewing Company quaffs. And, yes, Pumpkin Head is featured. The cost is $49 per person and the dinner is 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Call 561-278-3364.

Terrapin Tap Takeover

Tap 42, evidently big fans of alliteration, are hosting a Terrapin tap takeover from 7 to close with brews like Samurai Krunkles, Oak-Aged Big Hoppy Monster, Hopsecutioner, and Pumpkinfest, among others. Like the brewery's turtle mascot, slow and steady consumption will win this hop-filled race. A representative from the brewery will be on hand to discuss the brews.

Wednesday

Beer and cheese pairing

The Blind Monk in West Palm Beach is hosting a beer and cheese pairing with five different beers coupled with five gourmet cheeses. Limited seating is available so call 561-833-3605 to book a spot. The tasting is at 8 p.m.

TikiTweetup and In the Biz night

If you're into networking or you're in the biz, Shooters Waterfront Cafe is the place to be on Wednesday. They'll be hosting a networking event from 7 to 10 p.m. with drinks and small bites. RSVP and get more details about the event via its Tweetvite. If you also happen to work in the hospitality industry, Wednesday is Shooters' in-the-biz night with drink specials for those that can prove they're ITB.

Fundraiser at Bimini Boatyard

AMIKids Greater Fort Lauderdale will host its annual fundraiser at Bimini Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale. For a $25 donation, attendees get two cocktails and various appetizers. A silent auction is planned for the evening, which kicks off at 6 p.m. RSVPs are requested. Call 954-764-2733, or email [email protected].

Sicily Wine Dinner

Paradiso Ristorante in Lake Worth will host a five-course wine dinner that explores Sicilian grapes with wines chosen by sommelier Brett Hart. The cost is $58 per person and the dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Reserve a spot at 561-547-2500.

Thursday

FAU Green Market

Now that the Moonlit Farmers' Market is officially kaput, the weekly Green Market at Florida Atlantic University is the prime choice for Thursday evening veggie shopping. The market is 4 to 8 p.m. at the FAU Stadium Plaza in Boca Raton.
