Will America ever tire of its love affair with the burger? Doesn't seem likely. And as a nation, we certainly enjoy sprinkling a bit of friendly competition into our everyday activities. Hence the appeal of something as simple and all-American as the "Star Spangled Stop Burger Eating Contest" on Monday, July 4, in Weston Town Center, home to the burger joint for which the challenge is named.

The showdown kicks off at 1 p.m. with participants lining up to see who can chow down the most original Stop burgers in ten minutes. If you need a little coaxing to pump up your cholesterol count for the day, know that the first-prize winner walks away with $2,500 in cash and second- and third-place winners net $500 and $250 gift cards, respectively. For contest details, call 954-349-4556.
