Talk about timing. Tequesta Brewing Co. today will celebrate its two-year anniversary, just days before the kick-off to the second annual South Florida Beer Week. Florida craft fans can get an early start to basking in the glory that is homegrown brew by heading today to the microbrewery in north Palm Beach County.
From noon until close today (Wednesday), Tequesta Brewing will offer $3 pints. On tap you can get their signature beer Der Chancellor (German kolsch), as well as Gnarly Barley (American pale ale), Terminally Ale (American brown ale), Julios (blackberry saison), White IPA, Russian Imperial Stout (a 10-ounce pour), Coffee Porter, Apple Brandy (barrel-aged porter in a 10-ounce pour or the barrel-aged brown barleywine in a 10-ounce pour), Tequestavus (Belgian pumpkin), Saison IPA, and Black IPA.
The brewery also will tap a few special casks throughout the day, including; Belgian Pumpkin with whiskey-barrel chunks, Rushing Imperial Stout with jalapeños, Gnarly Barley with grilled pineapple and ginger, and Double IPA with extra-dry hops. The first cask will be tapped at 2 p.m. and the rest will be tapped throughout the day.
In reflecting on its success, Tequesta Brewing posted this on its Facebook page;
"It's been an incredible two years and we look forward to many many more. When I say we, I mean everybody, if you don't show up, have fun, drink and support our local business we don't get to keep being creative, having the best jobs in the world and pumping out great local beer. It's quite a little beer culture developing here in South Florida....THANK YOU from the bottom or our hearts and livers!"
Can't make it up that way this evening for the festivities? Tequesta brews are available all over Broward and Palm Beach counties. For example, Tap 42 in Fort Lauderdale carries Der Chancellor on tap. And, they'll be hosting a Tequesta Tap Takeover on Wednesday, January 23, featuring Belgian Pumpkin on draft. The Yard House in Boca Raton also currently has Tequesta Big Hitter Tequestavus on tap, though its in limited quantity and available only while supplies last. Cheers to Tequesta on its birthday and remember: Drink local.
