As easy as it may seem, hard-boiling an egg requires a bit more finesse than just throwing an egg into boiling water.
Cook them too long: you get a chewy mess. Too short: you're falling into soft-boiled territory. Not delicate enough: the egg will crack.
You get the point.
Well, to help us out with what should seem like the simplest of tasks, we asked Chef Chris Miracolo of S3 to show us the best way to hard-boil an egg.

"You know when you drop eggs into water and they crack?" asks Miracolo, "It's best to do it the other way around."
Step One: Boil a pot or tea kettle of water.
Step Two: Place the eggs on the bottom of an empty saucepan or pot and set on high heat.
Step Three: Pour the boiling water over the eggs, "So the eggs don't break," says Miracolo.
Step Four: Throw in some salt and allow the eggs to cook for 10 minutes and 45 seconds.
Step Five: While the eggs are boiling, prepare an ice bath.
Step Six: When the timer goes off, remove the eggs from the boiling water with a slotted spoon and place them in the ice bath. Allow them to chill thoroughly.
See, not much harder than boiling some water.
