Tsukuro Aims to Serve a Fort Lauderdale Beach With Grown-Up Tastes

A.J. Yaaris knows all about the rowdy history of Fort Lauderdale Beach. He's been working there since he was 16 and is the proprietor of many of the strip's bars and restaurants — Spazio, Sangrias, Rock Bar, St. Barts Coffee Co., and the infamous watering hole Dirty Blondes. But his latest venture, Tsukuro, is a sign of a more refined, grown-up Fort Lauderdale, serving sophisticated sushi, briny sea urchin, buttery toro, and caviar.

"All the people who were here in the spring-break days are married and coming back with their families," Yaaris says. "Fort Lauderdale is the same lady in a different dress." Read more about all Tsukuro has to offer on our food blog, Clean Plate Charlie.
