Yay for readers – and for foodies! Books & Books, the well-loved Miami bookstore, is slated to open an outpost at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. Even better: the café has also been revamped, with a menu by famed South Florida chef Allen Susser (of Chef Allen’s and the recently-shuttered Taste Gastropub). It will feature his signature sandwiches and salads.
Grand opening events run from Thursday through Sunday, featuring free museum admission, food, drinks, and appearances by chef Allen and local guest authors.
On Friday January 14 at 1 p.m., Allen Susser will participate in a
special “Conversation with Chef Allen” conducted by radio/television
host and cookbook author Linda Gassenheimer, whose cookbook, Dinner in Minutes, will be available for purchase. The talk is free and
open to the public.
Local authors scheduled to appear include Pablo Cartaya (author of Tina Cocolina) on Saturday the 15th at 11 am
and Christina Gonzales (The Red Umbrella) at 3 pm. plus local authors on
the 16th.
