We’ve got two words to describe this fun-filled race: beer and laughs. On Saturday, Fort Lauderdale is home to a new type of 4k — yes, not 5k — the Tap ’N’ Run. This hilarious race (for those 21 years of age and over) pits teams of racers against one another to win wacky awards. The fun starts with the costumes: Each team decides a theme and gets dolled up in matching outfits before letting off some steam in a truly sick — er, healthy — way. Well, sort of: This event is all about beer too. The Tap ’N’ Run is an extremely short race when all is said and done — only 2.5 miles, which anyone can complete within an hour. Add to that multiple “chug stations” strategically placed along the race route, where participants get to indulge in a five-ounce pour of beer along the way. Make it to the finish line and a full pint awaits you. In addition to an awesome experience, every participant leaves a winner with a finisher’s medal (that doubles as a bottle opener), a race T-shirt, sunglasses, a koozie, and tons of other free swag. Afterward, participants take part in some fun extracurricular activities during the awards ceremony. Winners can nab the title for categories like Best Stache (real or fake), Most Unique Team Concept, and Most Creative Team Name. Looks like it’s time to chug and run.
The Tap ’N’ Run 4K takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. The race leaves from America’s Backyard, located at 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Visit tapnrun.com to register, and use code AMERICATAPS for $5 off the entry fee.
