Good news, criminals of Broward County!

No,
the meals at county lockup aren’t getting any better, but local law
enforcement will soon provide a prime opportunity for you to make the
most of your illicit gifts.

On August 2, the Broward Sheriff’s Office is throwing a
party for the National Night Out Against Crime. The department is
inviting residents of south Broward to its district headquarters,
located at 3201 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. that Tuesday for “fun,
food, and beverages.”

There’s also going to be a meet and greet with BSO
Chief Nichole Anderson and many deputies. Also, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Dania Beach’s C.W. Thomas Park, located at 800 NW First St., there
will be “free food,
water & soda, music, games & a bounce house” to kick off
anticrime events.

What does this mean for you, purveyors of SoFla’s soft underbelly?

You’ve
got at least two hours to burgle and rob your way through the county,
considering a lot of people won’t be at home and a lot of cops will be
concentrated in one place. You’d almost be a model citizen if you didn’t
take advantage of this opportunity to pillage and vandalize. And what
perp wants to mess up his or her street cred for lack of proper
planning?

So mark your calendars now. With a little creative scheduling, the National Night Out Against Crime certainly doesn’t have to be crime-free.
