It doesn’t sound like anyone’s staring at his shoes in Timonium. Instead, the soundscapes offered by this Northern California quartet feel like watching clouds float across a summer sky. Getting lost in the band’s celestial extendo-epics is easy enough — songs build and build forever only to suddenly dissipate or explode, minutes last for hours, and lyrics are half-heard, gauze-draped whispers. The sheer guitar-pedal prettiness of Until He Finds Us, the band’s third full-length, is enough to reward the attentive ear, but behind the surface decoration is a remarkable, barely tethered sense of urgency that gives these songs a potency not often encountered among slow-core or shoe-gazing kids. A band with this kind of power performing in a tiny Delray living room is not unlike having My Bloody Valentine playing your bar mitzvah.

Timonium and the Mission Veo play at 9 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Dada, 52 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach. The show is free. Call 561-330-3232.
