The Deal: Domestics, wells, and house wines are half off. Imported beers are $1.50 to $2.
The Digs: The Duck is what passes for a dive in Boca Raton. But anywhere else it would be
a fairly upscale bar. It’s clean and bright. This lets you admire
the wood floors, cabinetry, brick walls, and tin ceiling tiles. To while
away the time you have assorted flat screens, two dart boards, and a
tabletop video poker machine. And you can literally travel the world by
drinking through their beer menu (though the world beers are not covered
by their happy hour special). If they’re a member of the U.N. and they
allow drinking in their country The Duck probably has a few bottles of
beer from there.
The Verdict: The only divey thing about the place is its low
key vibe in an otherwise non-low-key town. And it has a simple happy
hour. This is always good, as some can get hard to keep track of,
especially after you’ve had a few drinks. And The Duck’s prices are
already pretty reasonable, so any discount is just a nice bonus. In
addition, The Duck has regular daily lunch and drink specials throughout
