It’s official. Turns out the world’s ugliest dog is from Palm Beach County.
Quasi Modo, a 10-year-old mixed breed, was crowned the winner of the 2015 World’s Ugliest Dog contest.
Quasi’s ugliness won her owners, who hail from Loxahatchee, a cool $1,500 in prize winnings over the weekend, according to WSVN-7. Quasi Modo is a pit bull-Dutch shepherd mix who was born with a spinal birth defect that left her hunchbacked.
Quasi’s owner, a veterinarian, found the dog abandoned at a local animal shelter.
This was the 27th-annual contest of World’s Ugliest Dog, which is held at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma. The contest, which goes out of its way to celebrate ugliness in man’s best friend, is decided by a three-judge panel in various categories. Among them, special or unusual attributes, personality, and, well, ugliness.
Here’s the organizers’ Facebook’s bio on Quasi Modo says:
“My appearance can be a little unsettling to some (I have had grown men jump on top of their cars to get away from me because they thought I was a hyena or Tasmanian devil) but once they get to know me I win them over with my bubbly personality,”
Quasi beat out two Chinese crested and Chihuahua mixes named Sweepee Rambo and Frodo for the grand prize.
