If it seems like ventriloquism is having a moment as of late — you can thank a few tight-lipped, busy-handed entertainers who are quickly turning the art form from creeper hobby to talent-show-winning stagecraft. Just look to this year’s Miss America pageant for proof: Contestant Miss Ohio busted out her ventriloquist skills (the first ventriloquist act in 50 years) to wow the judges in the talent portion of the show.
We can also give a big nod to America’s Got Talent season-two winner Terry Fator, whose more than 100 ventriloquist impersonations have been seen across the globe, at sold-out headliner shows in Las Vegas, and on the morning-show circuit on shows like Fox & Friends. It’s almost as if ventriloquist domination was his plan all along, as Fator has said in the past that ever since he was little, he wanted to be known as the person who brought ventriloquism back into popular culture. Fator (who does as killer an Etta James as he does an Elvis Presley) is taking his act on the road, stopping Saturday at Hard Rock Live (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood). Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8. Tickets cost $39 to $59 and are available by calling 954-797-5531 or visiting hardrocklivehollywoodfl.com.
