A lot of law enforcement news this morning, but I promised to let you know next time Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti held a public event -- and if you missed his pastry party last month, fret not. You've got a great big smoking opportunity to meet the man with the golden star.

But it won't be for coffeecake.

Lamberti is hosting a pistol match at Pompano Beach's National Armory shooting range on Sunday, March 18, from 3 to 7 p.m. It'll cost you, though -- registration for the "fun shoot" is $50, and the pistol match costs $75 to enter. Both include free ammo and use of a firearm, but you have to register ahead of time -- the form is available on the National Armory website.

Waiting to hear back from organizers about any more details, but the range is at 1315 SW First Court, and just to be sure you see this, it says in bold red letters not to try to bring your own gun to the event.
