The Boynton Beach Police Department just released the probable cause affidavit in yesterday's deadly hit and run. Leticia Flores, 28, is accused of accidentally killing 10-year-old Darness Brown, then leaving the scene.
Flores, who is being held on $1 million bond, lives on SW Ninth Avenue, just a block away from the scene, where that street intersects with SW Third Street. Not long after noon Sunday, Brown and her sister Darneisha Ellis, 13, were riding on a small green electric scooter. It appears Flores, driving an SUV, was on her way home.
From the probable cause affidavit:
The vehicle was traveling southbound on Southwest 3rd Street and attempted to make a left-hand turn to travel eastbound on SW9th Avenue. This is where the impact occurred, as the scooter was dragged under the vehicle until final rest.The police noted that Flores' vehicle struck the scooter on the north side of the road -- that is, Flores' left side, which is the basis for the police claim that she was negligent.
The affidavit cites a witness, 24-year-old Jessica Thomas, who heard the crash and ran outside:
"Once outside, she observed the driver of the vehicle standing outside staring at the injured pedestrian. Thomas then stated that the driver (Flores) got into her vehicle and fled the scene."Police say Flores drove south to Woolbright Road, where an officer spotted her leaving her SUV and walking into a 7-Eleven at the intersection of Seacrest Boulevard.

Flores stated that after the crash she noticed Ellis pull Brown off into the grass. According to Flores, Brown was bleeding from the nose, her eyes were closed, and she was unconscious. Flores confirmed that she did leave the scene due to her not having a driver's license.Here's the affidavit.
