The title of cabaret crooner Avery Sommers' debut album was "You're Gonna Hear From Me," a presumptuous claim that has been more than borne out by the soulful singer's increasing stature in South Florida and elsewhere. An accomplished stage and film actress for the past 30 years, she won a Carbonell for her one-woman show But Not for Me, and she recently wrapped a movie called Marriage Material opposite Victoria Jackson -- but we won't hold that against her. Belting out Broadway classics and standards with tender balladry and jazzy blues remains her bread and butter, however, and she has rave reviews from each of her five appearances at the Colony Hotel's Royal Room to prove it. She'll return for her sixth engagement at the venue -- South Florida's premier cabaret destination -- at 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from November 23 through December 8. Tickets cost $45 for the show only or $80 for a dinner package beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Colony is located at 155 Hammon Ave. in Palm Beach. Call 561-659-8100, or visit thecolonypalmbeach.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 23. Continues through Dec. 8, 2012
