A Street With a View

On Thursdays, the street partiers come out once dusk descends upon the end of Clematis Street — it’s Clematis by Night, and there are live bands, food, and beer stations. It’s been in effect for 15 years now — that’s more than 700 nights filled with sidewalk shopping to the musical backdrop of rock, reggae, blues, and Latin music. And this week’s a big one: Clematis by Night’s going to be 15, and for its anniversary, it’s going to turn around the setup so everyone can revel in downtown West Palm Beach’s new waterfront view. The opening musical act will be Stranger Danger — and to headline, CBN is bringing in national act Fastball, which brought the world those hits “The Way” and “Out of My Head.” Dub City Derby Girls will be there showcasing their skating skills on stage as well as getting dunked, and a Jupiter Hammerheads’ batting cage will be present — along with Jupiter Hammerheads’ mascot and art folks from the Armory Art Center. Thursday’s event will reveal Clematis by Night’s new beer garden: Expect more tables, so more seating. The party’s from 6 to 9 p.m. at Centennial Square in downtown West Palm Beach. The night ends with a light show at the Great Lawn. There’s no cover. Call 561-822-1515, or visit clematisbynight.net.
