It can’t be easy to sit next to a blowhard like Joe Scarborough every morning, which is why local women can learn a lot from Mika Brzezinski, the Morning Joe cohost and author of the self-help book Know Your Worth. She likes to tell the story of how when she started her MSNBC gig, Scarborough was being paid 14 times more than her. Brzezinski had the guts to challenge that disparity in a hardball negotiation with her cable bosses. She’ll be speaking at the Festival of the Arts Boca — a cultural festival that runs through March 18 — at 7 p.m. Monday, helping her South Florida sisters learn to drive a hard bargain of their own. The event is at Mizner Park (590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton). Tickets cost $50 for premier seating, $35 for level-one seating. Call 866-571-2787, or visit festivaloftheartsboca.org.
Mon., March 12, 7 p.m., 2012
