Since the Beatles first appeared on American TV 50 years ago, tribute bands all over the country have tried to replicate the British rock band's legendary hits. But between bad wigs and even worse Liverpudlian pseudo-accents, most artists just can't pull it off. The Fab Faux is not one of those bands.
This group has been replicating Beatles hits for the past 16 years and is what Rolling Stone calls "the most accomplished band in the Beatles cover business." Will Lee, bassist for Late Show With David Letterman, and Conan bandleader Jimmy Vivino got the band together in 1998 with three other artists in New York City.
The Fab Faux is known for precisely matching every Beatles record and live performance note for note. It is famous for playing songs even the Beatles never performed live, like "Strawberry Fields Forever" or "Blackbird." Plus the Fab Faux travels with the Hogs Head Horns and Creme Tangerine Strings to help create the ultimate musical throwback.
The Fab Faux is playing Saturday at 8 p.m. at Parker Playhouse, 707 NE Eighth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $42.93 to $128.79. Visit parkerplayhouse.com, or call 954-462-0222.
