For trauma for which there are no words, there is art. So goes the mantra of
InSIDE/Out, Art as Healing Therapy, an exhibition of works created by adults and children in art therapy programs. Art therapy encourages people to express themselves when they cant communicate properly through speech particularly young children or people with developmental disabilities and can help them cope with nasty happenings in their past. The art can be sometimes depressing but also surprisingly inspiring as well.
InSIDE/Out is hosted by ArtServe, and Thursday night is the opening-night party, at 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. Also on display will be work of South Florida artists who support the programs; lots of art will be for sale, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Haiti Relief Fund of the Children Services Council of Broward. There is so much charity going on, it might raise Mother Teresa from the dead. Contact ArtServe at 954-462-8190, or visit artserve.com.
