Beauty is Skin Deep

Originally from France, painter and tattoo artist Lea Vendetta has been leaving her mark -- sometimes permanently -- on the world for more than 15 years. Most recently, Vendetta appeared on the first season of Spike's Ink Masters, a reality-based competition that featured tattooers from all over the world. Despite not taking home the top prize, she's not letting anything slow her down. And when she's not traveling around the world, you can find her locally at Boca Raton's Stroke of Genius. On Friday, Vendetta is celebrating the release of her 2013 calendar and hosting a tattooed beauty contest at Dada (52 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach). Although there is no talent portion of the show, the ladies will be judged on appearance, tattoos, and overall style. The lucky winner will be rewarded with a $500 cash prize, a photo shoot with Kris Starry, a haircut and color from Bond Street Salon, and an appearance in a national ad campaign for Afterlife Tattoo Aftercare. How's that for some serious goodies? In addition to gawking at inked-up babes, you can enjoy local bands the State Of and the Ferocious Stones, who will be performing throughout the night. The event begins at 9 p.m., and admission is free. Call 561-330-3232, or visit
