Perhaps comedian Patton Oswalts says it best when he describes Cirque du Soleil as being wet and French and gay and on fire. Well, theres a different outfit coming to town, but itll have similar outfits: Its called Cirque Dreams, and one of its shows is Cirque Dreams Illumination. The Cirque Dreams show is an acrobatic mishmash set in some kind of urban landscape and looks a bit like watching Rent while tripping on mushrooms. The fire hydrants wander around. A guy plays drums by juggling balls against the heads. Dudes balance on chair stacks and tightropes, B-boys pop and lock, someone appears to be stuck inside a spinning gyroscope, flexible ladies curl into backward letter cs. Its not du Soleil, but your grandma wont care when she sees the soaking-wet gymnast on the rings. Get your cirque on at the Hard Rock Live at seven shows between Wednesday and Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (5747 Seminole Way, Hollywood). Wednesdays performance is at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $40, $55, and $70 and are available at the venues box office, on ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
