Modern Comedy

Despite its name, Mod 27 is not a Who cover band. But as one of top improv troupes in South Florida, you can bet its performances are every bit as funny as watching Keith Moon drive his car into a hotel pool. Madcap hijinks are the name of the game for this Lake Worth-based trio. And if that’s what you want (how can you not?), check out Mod 27’s latest conceptual bit, “The 1, 2, 3 Show.”

With “The 1, 2, 3 Show,” the Modsters strip down their act to a daringly bare minimum. As the name would suggest, the show is broken down to three acts. In Act One, Dustin Sharpe gets his funny on for some one-on-one interaction with the crowd. In Act Two, Tom O'Donnell and Dave Hyland use the improv buddy system, taking the stage together. In the final act, all three members drive the car into the swimming pool, so to speak.

Mod 27 performs at 8 p.m. Saturday at Klein Dance Studio (811 Lake Ave., Lake Worth). Performances continue on the second Saturday of every month through August 12. Admission costs $10. Students and seniors get a $2 discount. Call 561-963-3414, or visit
