Paradise in Pompano

Pompano is one of the last areas in South Florida that hasn't been completely overdeveloped. But don't kid yourself: ugly, faux Mediterranean architecture is on the way. So enjoy the area while it still retains an old Florida feel and head to the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Local restaurants will prepare a feast fitting of the nearby sea, local bands play all day, and revenue benefits organizations and schools like the Boys and Girls Club, the Boy Scouts, and Pompano Beach High. Honestly, why else would you live in Florida?

The festival is located at Atlantic Boulevard and Briny Avenue along the beach. Admission costs $10, and festivities kick off Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m. Call 954-941-2940, or visit pompanobeachseafoodfestival.com.
