Parrott, Pigeons, and Pigment

Lisa Parrott was blissfully returning from her honeymoon when she discovered an unwelcome wedding gift. “My kitchen exploded while I was in London!” laments the still-giggly artist. It seems that while she had been absorbing European inspiration to showcase in her new solo show, debuting at 8 p.m. Saturday at Undergrounds Coffeehaus, her furniture had been absorbing a sinister water line’s aftermath.

Fans of Parrott, who’s known in the art world as Coma Girl, can rest assured that this little setback will not find its way into her stunningly collectable series in which heavy-lidded lasses tumble around with vampire kittens. What might? Euro pigeons. “I know we have pigeons here,” says an excitable Parrott, “but in London, they are the size of cats! I’m going to have to do something with these pigeons soon.”

Undergrounds Coffeehaus is located at 2743 E. Oakland Park Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Art collectors, arrive early: Her pieces have been selling out at each event. Enthusiasts, there’s stuff for you too! Coma Girl prints, stickers, and bookmarks are available for even the thriftiest budget. No cover. Call 954-630-1900, or visit comagirl.com.
