Singing and Satire

Between fake Twitter accounts, The Daily Show, and Stephen Colbert, social satire is never more than a click away. But if you like your parody live and in the flesh, Forbidden Broadway delivers in spades. Biting the hand that feeds it, the stage musical comedy affectionately skewers the biggest hits on Broadway, including sacred cows like Wicked, The Lion King, and Jersey Boys. One needn't be a theater nerd to get the joke -- this revamp of the long-running production cycles through more than 20 short riffs on a variety of familiar subjects and shows. Forbidden Broadway will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 1:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7 and 10 p.m. Monday. Performances are at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, located at 701 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Tickets cost $39, except for the 10 p.m. Monday show, which is $58.
