The downtown doldrums are downright inevitable: Parking in Fort Lauderdale is always a hassle, and with only a couple of establishments providing shelter from the fist-pumping masses and their anthems, you run the risk of either getting bored with same old routine or turning into a bitter alcoholic recluse. We’ll have none of that on our conscience, so here’s a newish weekly alternative via the Monterey Club: Stereo Synth Thursdays.

DJs LinderSMASH and Sweet Swirl, along with weekly guests, provide a solid soundtrack of indie, electro, rock, ’80s, and new wave that will keep your feet nimbly shuffling around the dance floor. Throw in $2 PBRs, a variety of craft beers, a no-cover policy, a free pool table, and ample free parking and well, you really have no excuse to say at home and whine like a bitch.

Stereo Synth gets cranked up at 10 p.m. every Thursday at the Monterey Club (2608A S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). Pro tip: Add “Stereosynth Monterey” as a Facebook friend and your liver will be handsomely rewarded for reposting the event. Call 954-598-1887, or visit themontereyclub.net.
Thursdays, 10 p.m. Starts: Jan. 6. Continues through Aug. 4, 2011
