There's room for more than one period-set fest in South Florida. Sure, the reigning king of fantasy events is the Renaissance Festival, but that doesn't take place again until February. And it's certainly not as scandalous as the upcoming Camelot Days. The Ren Fest is great and all, but are you likely to find Lancelot showing Guinevere his "jousting rod" behind Arthur's back? Not to mention the rumor than Merlin is basically the Cheney to Arthur's W. Bush, controlling what happens to Camelot from behind the scenes. Of course, that could all just be scandal and rumor, but you will definitely find musicians, feasts, knights, jesters, and legit jousting matches among the New Riders of the Golden Age. There will also be games, rides, an artists' market, hearty food, and grog.
If the Ren Fest is any indicator of the kind of attendees who will be at Camelot Days, visitors should expect quite the variety of medieval characters at the roundtable, ranging from gypsies to wizards to faeries to knights. Camelot Days takes place from Saturday through November 17 at Topeekeegee Yugnee (TY) Park, located at 3300 N. Park Road in Hollywood. It's open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and costs $15 for adults, $3 for kids 6 to 12, and free for kids under 6. Slaves, servants, and jesters must pay the regular adult price.
