A spirit of playful rebellion often is a welcome quality in an artist, no matter the chosen medium. Cuban-born painter/illustrator Ana Albertina Delgado is no slouch in those departments. She cut her teeth during Cuba’s artist uprising in the 1980s and has continued to produce work that is deceptively challenging at its core. Delgado will talk about her work – which appears in numerous South Florida art institutions’ collections – this weekend as part of the Girls’ Club’s Artist in Action! series. The Artists in Action! talk is 7 p.m. on Friday. There is no admission charge and the event is open to the public. A limited edition multiple by Delgado – produced specifically for this event – will go on sale that evening. The artist will lead a self-portrait workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday: the cost to participate is $30 and registration is requested.
