On Monday at 7:30 p.m., Rabbi Shmuley (whos sometimes called the Jewish Dr. Phil) will give a lecture in West Palm called Kosher Sex: A Recipe for Passion and Intimacy. Sounds insular, you say? Boteach tells New Times that his message is, in fact, universal. According to him kosher sex is less about injecting prohibitions into the bedroom (anybody home, Vatican City?) than it is about preventing anything that impedes intimacy between spouses. When pressed, however, the orthodox Rabbi does offer a few strong prescriptions for keeping the pump primed. For one, dont shower in front of your partner. Also, try celibacy for 12 consecutive days every month. 12 days? This erotic modesty, Boteach says, facilitates healthy longing. (Hmm, maybe. Or maybe it facilitates 12 days of screeching insanity.)
Take it up with the Rabbi at the West Palm Beach Marriot (1001 Okeechobee Blvd., Palm Beach) Tickets cost $10. Call 561-242-6668, or visit www.JewishPalmBeach.org.
