At the Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts’ 1310 Gallery (1310 SW Second Court, Fort Lauderdale), exotic behavior will run rampant among the three levels. On the first floor, a more intimate setting will provide the film-watching atmosphere, where The Art of Burlesque will screen. But you might not want to stay on this level for too long, because real — in flesh — burlesque dancers (The Glamour Goddesses and Brass Knuckle Bombshells) will be seducing on the third floor — the floor dedicated to performances. Another performance artist, Belaxis Buil, will take off her underwear and wash them — and do something holding power tools.
But why skip a floor? Definitely check out floor number two for interactive art. Curator of “Red Light,” avant-garde artist, and Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts resident since the beginning, Laura Marie Peterson will provide attendees a full night of sensory art. Her pieces — as well as the artwork shown at this exhibit — will tackle subjects such as sexuality, body identity, and gender role transgression. Also in store will be music stylings conducted by Es Oh and Lizzy Pitch. And, for a charge, there will be a person adding feathers to your hair. The show is free, but donations are welcome. “Red Light” is from 7 to 11 p.m.
