Hearts of Steel

Bikers get a bad rap, man, but you know who's quick to help his fellow man/woman/child in a pinch? Yeah, that's right, the bikers. A swarm of benevolent riders will take to South Florida's roads this weekend for the Get-Your-Heart-On Motorcycle Run. The daylong affair will raise funds for the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center, a residential substance-abuse treatment facility for women in Broward that allows kids to stay with their mothers during the process. Signup for the Get-Your-Heart-On Motorcycle Run is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Riders will take off at 10 a.m. from Flossie's Bar & Grill (3985 Ravens-wood Road in Fort Lauderdale). The ride will then proceed to Peterson's Harley-Davidson (19400 NW Second Ave. in Miami) for a pit stop and conclude at Gilbert's Resort (107900 Overseas Highway in Key Largo). The afterparty will continue from 2 p.m. on at Gilbert's with live music. The cost is $10 for a single rider and $15 for a couple and includes a buffet breakfast.
