Last week, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office shot three people in six days -- two of those people shot at police, and one of them shot a lieutenant and a police dog.

This week, the Boynton Beach Police have trouble of their own.

Boynton Beach officers spotted what they suspected to be a getaway car used in a Delray Beach armed robbery just before 5 p.m. yesterday, according to spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.

Officers tried to stop the car on Federal Highway, sparking a car chase that ended when the suspect crashed into a woman's car near the intersection of NE Ninth Avenue and Railroad Avenue. The woman involved with the crash "suffered minor injuries," according to Slater, but the suspect then began shooting at police, hitting one.

The suspect was killed when two officers returned fire. Police have not yet released the suspect's name, but the officer who was shot was released from the hospital late last night.
