Mickey's Bar

Mickey's resides in a dark room in a strip mall in Pompano and boasts American eagles flanked by the flag. It's the kind of bar that looks dicey and ends up a favorite divey haunt. Run by the Carter family, the bar recently celebrated its 50th birthday: not surprising, considering the band of loyalists that support the place. Despite its biker cred, Mickey's has been shuffling things to lure a more eclectic crowd. The most popular is the Wednesday band night and pig roast dubbed the "hillbilly cookout." Savory pulled pork is slow-roasted for 12 hours and served with comfort-food classics like mac and cheese, corn bread, and collards.
