A 17-year-old boy from Largo died yesterday after shooting himself in the head during a game of Russian roulette. That's pretty much the whole dumb story.
He was the first player to spin the chamber on his back porch Friday night, according to the Tampa Bay Times, when he held a .38-caliber revolver to his head, pulled the trigger, and shot himself. He was airlifted to the hospital and remained in critical condition until early Sunday morning, when he died.
Though police say an autopsy is being done, information about charges against his three friends, aged 16, 18, and 19, has not been released.
WTSP, in addition to finding what looks to be a Facebook photo of Montgomery, spoke with a neighbor, who said, "I'm shocked to find out they're stupid enough to play that game... Kids nowadays, with them playing with guns the way they do, there's no reason for that."
The Times also found a Kentucky medical examiner who wrote a study about Russian roulette and how it's mostly played by men younger than 30.
