Well, that's a bit of a flip-flop.

Charlie Crist, the former Republican-now-Democrat working overtime to make voters forget all about his past life, came out for marriage equality last night on his Facebook page. Right now it's political trendy for former gay marriage opponents ditch their old views, and anyone with a working frontal cortex can see the calculus behind Crist's new stance.

Here's the message.

Like we said, this is a pretty drastic reversal of thought. When Crist was in the governor's seat, he signed a 2006 petition to ink a ban on same-sex marriage into the state constitution.

After switching parties, Crist told the Miami Herald he regretted throwing support behind the ban:

"Would I do it today? No," Crist said. "I think the best way to judge where my heart is, is to look at the deeds that I have done, whether as attorney general, governor -- restoration of rights, civil rights cases, things of that nature, that I think show a compassionate heart and hopefully someone who cares and knows who the boss is -- and the boss is the people of Florida."

Let's be honest here: the flip does position Crist for the Democratic gubernatorial ticket in 2014.
