No. 22: Cold Appetizer Plate from Sefa Mediterranean Grill

"Less is more," said architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. "More is more," said chef Numan Unsal. Okay, the toque at Delray's charming Sefa Mediterranean Grill didn't actually say that, he just put more and more tastes of Turkey and Middle East on his cold appetizer plate.

Prettily arranged like a multicolored pinwheel are a summery tabouleh reddened with tomatoes and pomegranate, toasty-creamy babaganoush, smoked eggplant salad fiery enough to spontaneously combust, and something called "ezme," a fine mince of tomatoes and other veggies tweaked with more pomegranate and olive oil and resembling a lightly jellied gazpacho. But wait, there's more. Never mind the pasty hummus; instead snarf down nutty orange lentil kofte and nibble on cigarette-thin dolma stuffed with rice, currants and pine nuts and then dredged in thick tzatziki. More is not only more, it's also more delicious.
