Amazingly, this date at Bill's Filling Station still shows up on Lady Gaga's website, which keeps a little part of her pre-Fame past alive. Back in 2008, the pop singer was just as hungry for domination as she is today, but she was still working her way up.
With her South Florida shows at BankAtlantic Center and American Airlines Arena coming up next week, Brandon K. Thorp shares some more details about Gaga's performance three years ago at the Wilton Manors gay nightclub in his piece for this week's music section. Originally, she wanted to perform at Georgie's Alibi, which is a bar across the street, but owners Mark Negrete and Jackson Padgett knew that Bill's was the right spot for her. "She came out onstage and blew everybody away," Negrete says.
Although no video has surfaced from that night, there are a handful of telling photos that are still up on the wall at Bill's. We have them here.
According to Negrete, Gaga performed "Summer Boyfriend," "Just Dance," and "Poker Face" that night with a pair of backup dancers. Additionally, here is a promotional clip of Gaga "on the set of my video for 'Poker Face'" sent to VJ Barry Browder when the plan still involved wooing Georgie's Alibi for a performance:
