Hipsters, like yuppies before them, are a subculture no one wants to admit joining. Yet since the start of the millennium, when hipsters first popped up with their too-tight jeans and ironic facial hair choices, they have seemed to not just prosper but also reproduce.

There are endless variations on the hipster. The one common trait is they all like to congregate in bars. Here are ten such locations in Broward and Palm Beach where you have the best chance of encountering and frolicking with a hipster.
10. Rhythm & Vine Beer Garden
This newish Fort Lauderdale spot is great for a rendezvous, whether you wish to hang outside or in the air conditioning. Inside is a bar made of repurposed shipping containers, and the exterior garden has plenty of picnic tables where you can discuss artisan ketchups. 
9. Dada Restaurant & Lounge 
This Delray Beach establishment has been open since 2000, but its origins go much further back. Formerly a historic 1924 home, it has walls that feature revolving artwork, and its tables are filled with "creative cuisine, which is sustainably sourced." The soundtrack often consists of South Florida's best live bands.
8. Stache 1920s Drinking Den
Right next to Revolution lies a 1920s speakeasy named after the most ridiculous hipster accessory: the mustache. It hosts live bands, DJs, and the occasional burlesque show. It mainly prides itself on its libations, proudly proclaiming that USA Today named it one of the top whiskey bars in America.
7. PRL Euro Cafe
PRL is the beer aficionado's dream come true. It features several beers with an alcohol content of more than ten percent along with an eclectic, laid-back atmosphere and a busy crowd on the weekends. The Hollywood spot's walls are decorated with album covers that make for good conversation starters as you discuss whichever record in your sightline is criminally underrated. 
6. Respectable Street Cafe
The nearly  30-year-old West Palm institution continues to draw in the hipsters no matter how many years and fashion trends pass us by. Sculpted out of an old 1925 Salvation Army building, it also houses ghosts of rock 'n' roll history with the Damned, the Misfits, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all having played there. 
5. Kreepy Tiki Bar & Lounge
This Fort Lauderdale tiki-themed bar prides itself on its craft cocktails and intense live music schedule. If you're not feeling hipster enough, there is also a Kreepy Tiki Tattoo around the corner that will ink you a sleeve or two so you can fit right in.
4. Poorhouse
Downtown Fort Lauderdale's favorite darkly lit dive bar is just the place to wear your favorite vintage T-shirt. With plenty of beers on tap, you can drink yourself so far into oblivion that eventually you'll think every other bar in the neighborhood is as welcoming to hipsters.
3. Mack House Brew Pub
Way out in Davie, Mack House is a bastion for those in desperate need of craft beer. With the draft selection written on a chalkboard complete with alcohol content, this is not a place for those content with whatever is on tap. For those who strive toward only eating offbeat snacks, they will also appreciate the limited bar menu of chips with mango pineapple salsa and pretzels with IPA cheese.
2. Propaganda
In Downtown Lake Worth, the hippest of the hipsters gather for live music and drinks. Reggae, punk rock, indie, and hip-hop all get represented in a musical selection that is more iPod shuffle than vinyl. Most nights feature live music, but Tuesday night karaoke allow you to take the stage and prove you know something about the band whose t-shirt you're wearing. 
1. Laser Wolf
Even if you never entered the Fort Lauderdale bar, you would grasp its hipster vibe by checking out Laser Wolf's website with all its retro sarcasm. Opened in 2010, the space has a hidden courtyard, plenty of beers to choose from, and music that will at the very least get you twirling your waxed mustache.
