Grab Life By The Ball

Ron Burgundy has been all over your television lately, and there is no stopping it. With an Anchorman revival in the theaters, it seems that all the studio cares about is bringing the newsman to life. Other modern comedy classics deserve the same treatment. No, we don't mean you need to "Frank the Tank" it up before a trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond; we mean it's time to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. It's dodgeball season! Luckily for everyone who enjoys nominally athletic sports followed by bar specials, a new trend of elementary-school games has emerged to satisfy our red rubber ball cravings. The South Florida Club Sport organization is taking the reins by bringing back another season of dodgeball. Taking a playground sport to the young professional crowd means one very important thing: an easy way to meet people. The league bar is Lucky's Tavern in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and your first pitcher of Miller Lite is a penny. Relive a Vince Vaughn move and drink for cheap? No decisionmaking process required. The Fort Lauderdale Dodgeball League takes place at the Holiday Park Gym, located at 1200 G. Harold Martin Drive, starting Thursday at 7:45 p.m. Regular registration fees are $67 for a free agent or $700 per team plus fees. Visit
