It's hard not to respect the Milwaukee Brewer organization's unwavering commitment to inebriation. The team was named after the region's rich beer-brewing history; the namesake of its stadium (Miller Park) is the Miller Brewing Co.; and its mascot, Bernie the Brewer, used to cheer for the home team from a beer-barreled chalet and celebrated home runs by sliding into a beer stein.
Even more impressive, though, has been the Fish's success against this NL Central foe; they won four and lost just two to the Wisconsin team last year. The Brewers come into town starting Monday, July 4. This might be the perfect time to face the Brew crew, whose season started spinning out of control in June. After the club's hottest start since 1998, the Brewers came unglued faster than a Florida State University quarterback on a bender, limping toward next week's All-Star break hopelessly behind the Cardinals. June was no kinder to the Marlins, who look to make up ground in the highly competitive NL East.

"If your résumé read like Kelly Slater's... you'd be content to stare at yourself in the mirror 24/7, repeating to yourself, 'That's right. '" So says Quiksilver, sponsor of the world's greatest surfer. After winning six world championship titles, temporarily "retiring," having a dalliance or three with Pamela Anderson, and dressing up like Tommy Lee for Halloween after Pam broke his heart (see the funny picture in his autobiography), Slater is back on the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals) world tour, itching to reclaim his title from Andy Irons. But on a pretty day in April 2004, Slater hunted waves in the Mentawai Islands with five fellow shredders.
